In order to reach our target we are of course very dependent on the generosity of others, both local businesses, competitors and their friends and families offering sponsorship and time. To stage the event we need to raise about £11,500. Most of this we can raise from entry fees plus the sale of refreshments, entertainment, parking etc on the day. Nevertheless we aim to ideally finance the event by contacting local businesses asking for sponsorship / donations for many aspects of the race, which will in itself reduce the costs and therefore increase the proceeds to the charities. As an added incentive to our potential sponsors, other than them knowing that they are contributing to helping many deserving and needy charities, we have devised a package to promote our sponsors so we believe that they feel they are also benefitting by the exposure that we generate from our event, so much so that they will sponsor us year after year!
In 2011 the main beneficiaries will be St Wilfrids Hospice and Chestnut Tree House, while several smaller amounts will go to help local schools, clubs and organisations.
